Report Cards
In addition to regular communication between teachers and parents. Report cards are sent home three times a year, once each trimester, to show student progress. Middle School students also receive a mid-trimester report showing progress for that trimester. Holy Cross honors students with both an "A" Honor Roll and a "B" Honor Roll.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Because the success of every student involves a partnership between school and home, we look forward to seeing all our parents at these important milestones in the academic year. At conferences, we review your child’s report card and their progress through projects, homework, and class participation.
Conferences between Holy Cross teachers and parents are held twice a year for all grades.
Standardized Tests
Northwest Evaluation Association - Measures of Academic Progress
We use this form of testing as a means for tracking individual student progress over the course of the year with the goal of impacting instruction and improving learning in Reading, Language Usage, and Mathematics. The NWEA-MAP tests are administered on the computer and results are available for teachers and parents immediately upon completion of the test. Students in Grades 1 through 7 take these tests in the fall and in the spring.
Additional testing may be administered throughout the school year.
Homework
Homework is an integral part of a student’s educational growth and development, and a solid curriculum requires that students prepare outside of school. Homework provides a bond of common effort between teachers, students and parents/guardians. In order for homework to be effective, all participants must understand and commit to collaborating on this important learning ingredient.
Homework demands student organization and responsibility that is best supported by parental involvement and an appropriate, supportive structure at home. Homework assignments are a part of student grades, and missing or incomplete assignments must be completed and returned for credit.
