HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC SCHOOL
Growing hearts ... Growing Minds(serving PreKindergarten thru 8th Grade)STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE
At Holy Cross Catholic School, we provide a high quality, religious based education for students in PreKindergarten through eighth grade with a whole day, every day, Kindergarten program. The entire Holy Cross Catholic School family supports children's needs in their journey to become spiritual individuals, as well as contributing members in both the secular and Christian communities to which they belong.
We strive for excellence in education. Our school is accredited by Minnesota Non-Public Schools Accrediting Association and continues to conduct a self study in order to improve our current programs. We are committed to keeping class sizes limited in order to maximize the learning potential in each child. Our goal is for students to develop self-discipline, a thirst for knowledge, and concern and compassion for the world, near and far.
- Students have the opportunity to receive one-on-one or small group assistance through our Assurance of Mastery Program.
- Our eighth grade Basic Standards Test Scores are consistently above the state average for both math and reading and continue to improve each year.
- Our school-wide discipline plan includes clear guidelines for exhibiting appropriate behavior and for displaying Christian values.
CHRISTIAN VALUESAn example of our high expectations, is our grading scale. It generally includes higher percentages than the standard scale, which provides an opportunity for the students to reach beyond their current performance levels. Teachers assist the students in striving for excellence by addressing their individual learning style in a nurturing manner.
Although Catholic doctrine is taught during regularly scheduled religion classes, students of all faiths are welcome at our school. Children's liturgy is celebrated weekly. Family values are the focus in our Family Life Program taught in grades 1-8.
Service Projects: Advent Sharing Project, Food Drives, Lenten Project, Pull Tap Collections, Pennies for Patients, Weekly Masses and Altar Servers.
ACADEMIC PROGRAMSAs a staff, we continually revise and update curriculum on a regular basis. Reading, Math, Language Arts, Science, Spanish and Social Studies focus on basic concepts taught through a variety of teaching methods. Students participate in Physical Education, Music, Art, and Computer throughout the week. D.A.R.E and advances math classes are also offered to our students in grades 5-8.
ADDITIONAL BENEFITSAfter-School-Care: Holy Cross provides after-school-care to our families in order to ensure a healthy, safe and educational environment for students after school when parents are still working.
Hot Lunch Program: We offer an excellent Hot Lunch Program in which most of our students participate. Hot Lunch for PreK thru 4th grade is $2.00 per meal and for grades 5th-8th grade, meals cost $2.25.
